SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 104
         WHEREAS, July 13, 2017, marked the 60th wedding anniversary
  of Lincoln and Mary Nell King of Carthage, and this joyous event
  provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on their rewarding
  journey together as husband and wife; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. King met while working at the
  Hughes Aircraft Company in Tucson, Arizona, and after a
  six-month courtship, they were joined in matrimony in 1957;
  they honeymooned on the Playa de Cortes in Guaymas, Sonora,
  Mexico, where each caught a prize sailfish during their one and
  only fishing excursion; and
         WHEREAS, After the couple began raising their children,
  Mr. King accepted a transfer to work for Hughes Aircraft in
  California, and the family moved west; they later embarked on a
  memorable cross-country road trip to relocate to Mr. King's
  native Maine, and he began his career as a schoolteacher there;
  the frigid winter weather of the Northeast inspired the family to
  head south to Panola County, in Mrs. King's home state of Texas,
  where in addition to teaching in Gary for three decades, Mr. King
  founded and edited Loblolly, a magazine detailing the county's
  history; Mrs. King earned bachelor's and master's degrees and
  went on to teach English at Panola College for 15 years; the pair
  are congregants at the First Baptist Church of Carthage; and
         WHEREAS, The six decades of marriage that Mr. and
  Mrs. King have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of
  love and commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration
  to all who know them; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Lincoln and
  Mary Nell King on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them
  sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the couple as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
