August 1, 2017
TO:
Honorable Abel Herrero, Chair, House Committee on Land & Resource Management
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB93 by Rodriguez, Eddie (Relating to compensation to be paid to an emergency services district for a municipality's annexation of the district's territory.), As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code relating to the compensation to be paid to an emergency services district for a municipality annexation of the district's territory. The bill would add the total amount of the district sales and use tax revenue collected in the preceding 12 months to both the numerator and denominator of the calculation.
The bill would take effect December 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
According to Texas Municipal League, the fiscal impact of the bill cannot be determined because it would depend on the number of annexations and the amount of sales tax that had been collected within the area.
