The bill would amend the Education Code to define social work services and the role of social workers in public schools. The bill would permit social workers to provide services to students and families in a school or district and would require a social worker to collaborate with school administrators and other school professionals to enhance students' learning environments.
Local Government Impact
The bill would allow public schools to have social workers provide services on a campus. Participating public schools may incur costs associating with compensating a social worker and adopting policies and procedures for the school regarding the arrangement; however, these costs would be voluntary.
