FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATURE 1st CALLED SESSION - 2017
July 31, 2017
TO:
Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB200 by González, Mary (Relating to the creation of a commission to recommend improvements to the public school finance system.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would create the Texas Commission on Public School Finance which would have the responsibility to develop and make recommendations for improvements to the current public school finance system. The bill would require staff members of the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Legislative Budget Board (LBB) to provide administrative support for the commission. The bill specifies that funding for the administrative and operational expenses of the commission be appropriated to both TEA and LBB. The bill would abolish the commission on January 8, 2019.
This analysis assumes any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the legislation could be absorbed within current resources.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
