No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code relating to the creation of a maternal health care improvement program to address maternal morbidity. The Department of State Health Services indicates that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If the bill does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, the bill would take effect on the 91st day after the last day of the legislative session.
