No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Election Code relating to voting by mail and assistance provided to a voter.
The Secretary of State assumes any additional work associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
The bill would take effect on December 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
According to the Texas Association of Counties, Fort Bend County reported implementation would cost an estimated $15,000-$18,000 annually to the County's mailing costs.
Chambers County anticipates an increased cost in postage; however, the fiscal impact is not anticipated to be significant.
