No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend various sections of the Transportation Code relating to the prosecution of certain offenses and preemption of local regulations of the use of a wireless communication device while operating a motor vehicle.

The bill would repeal various sections of Chapter 545 of the Transportation Code.

The bill would take effect immediately if the bill receives a two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise the bill would take effect on the 91st day after the last day of the legislative session.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Municipal League, no significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
