No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Occupations Code to continue the Texas Medical Board, Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists, Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors, and Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners until September 1, 2019.
The bill would amend the Government Code to limit the Sunset Advisory Commission's review of these entities for preparation for the 86th Legislature to the recommendations made by the commission in preparation for the 85th Legislature. This section would expire on September 1, 2019.
The bill would take effect immediately upon enactment, assuming it received the requisite two-thirds majority votes in both houses of the Legislature. Otherwise, it would take effect 91 days after the last day of the First Called Session, 85th Legislature.
It is assumed that the appropriations made in SB 1, the General Appropriations Act, as certified by the Comptroller of Public Accounts for the agencies subject to abolition, would be effectuated by this legislation, and therefore this bill would not have a fiscal implication.
