No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to limit the circumstances under which a do not resuscitate (DNR) order is considered valid in certain health care facility and assisted living settings. The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to adopt rules necessary to implement the provisions of the bill. The bill would take effect January 15, 2018. HHSC and the Texas Medical Board indicate that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within existing agency resources.
