Amend SB 500 (senate committee printing) as follows:

(1)  In SECTION 1 of the bill, in added Section 810.002(f), Government Code (page 2, line 8), strike "January 8, 2019," and substitute "the effective date of this subsection".

(2)  Strike SECTION 4 of the bill (page 2, line 40) and substitute the following:

SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
