BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

Interested parties note that the need for the women's health advisory committee to provide recommendations regarding development and implementation of women's health care programs is ongoing and suggest that additional recommendations may be necessary in the future. H.B. 279 seeks to address this issue by providing for the continuation of the committee.

 

CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPACT

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly create a criminal offense, increase the punishment for an existing criminal offense or category of offenses, or change the eligibility of a person for community supervision, parole, or mandatory supervision.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

 

ANALYSIS

 

H.B. 279 amends the Government Code to postpone the abolishment of and expiration of statutory provisions relating to the women's health advisory committee from September 1, 2017, to September 1, 2019.

 

EFFECTIVE DATE

 

On passage, or, if the bill does not receive the necessary vote, September 1, 2017.
