AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

Interested parties note that Roy Lin Tisdale served honorably as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army and was the commander of the 525th Brigade Special Troops Battalion. H.B. 947 honors the leadership and courage Mr. Tisdale showed during his service by designating a portion of Farm-to-Market Road 1462 in Brazoria County as the Lieutenant Colonel Roy Lin Tisdale Memorial Highway

 

H.B. 947 amends current law relating to the designation of a portion of Farm-to-Market Road 1462 in Brazoria County as the Lieutenant Colonel Roy Lin Tisdale Memorial Highway.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1. Amends Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, by adding Section 225.123, as follows:

 

Sec. 225.123. LIEUTENANT COLONEL ROY LIN TISDALE MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a) Designates the portion of Farm-to-Market Road 1462 in Brazoria County between State Highway 288 and State Highway 35 as the Lieutenant Colonel Roy Lin Tisdale Memorial Highway.

 

(b) Requires the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), subject to Section 225.021(c) (relating to prohibiting TxDOT from designing, constructing, or erecting a marker unless a grant or donation of funds is made) to design and construct markers indicating the designation as the Lieutenant Colonel Roy Lin Tisdale Memorial Highway and any other appropriate information and erect a marker at each end of the highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.

 

SECTION 2. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2017.
