BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
Interested parties contend that current law is inconsistent regarding when a directors election for certain water districts is required to be held. C.S.H.B. 999 seeks to rectify this inconsistency.

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly create a criminal offense, increase the punishment for an existing criminal offense or category of offenses, or change the eligibility of a person for community supervision, parole, or mandatory supervision.

ANALYSIS
C.S.H.B. 999 amends the Water Code to specify that a directors election for certain water districts required to be held after confirmation of the applicable district on the uniform election date in May of each even-numbered year is required to be held on such date unless the district holds its general election for officers on a date as otherwise provided by statute.
