Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Interested parties note the storied legacy of service to the United States by the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment of the U.S. Army. H.B. 3567 seeks to honor that service by providing for the issuance of a specialty license plate for persons who served in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPACT

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly create a criminal offense, increase the punishment for an existing criminal offense or category of offenses, or change the eligibility of a person for community supervision, parole, or mandatory supervision.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

H.B. 3567 amends the Transportation Code to require Texas Department of Motor Vehicles to issue specialty license plates for persons who have served in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army. The bill requires the license plates to include the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment emblem and the words "11th Armored Cavalry Regiment" at the bottom of each plate and includes that emblem among the emblems a person entitled to a specialty license plate for veterans with disabilities may request for inclusion on the person's license plate, if applicable.
