BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
Interested parties note that Candelario Garcia Jr.'s heroic service in Vietnam led him to posthumously receive the Medal of Honor. To honor the service of Mr. Garcia and other Vietnam War veterans, C.S.H.B. 4182 designates a portion of State Highway 31 under construction in Navarro County as the Navarro County Vietnam Memorial Loop.

ANALYSIS
C.S.H.B. 4182 amends the Transportation Code to designate the portion of State Highway 31 under construction as of September 1, 2017, as a relief route around Corsicana, in Navarro County as the Navarro County Vietnam Memorial Loop. The bill requires the Texas Department of Transportation, subject to a grant or donation of funds, to design and construct markers indicating the designation as the Navarro County Vietnam Memorial Loop and any other appropriate information and to erect a marker at each end of the road and at appropriate intermediate sites along the road.
