AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

Clifton Taylor was an officer at the Johnson County Sheriff's Office. He responded to a disturbance call in aid of another officer. Deputy Taylor unfortunately succumbed to his injuries in the line of duty. He loved his job, serving the community and had fun doing it.

This bill would honor Deputy Clifton Taylor by designating a portion of I-35W in Johnson County as the Clifton Taylor Memorial Highway. It states that markers along the highway will show this designation. These markers will be erected at each end of the highway and at the appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.

As proposed, S.B. 1732 amends current law relating to the designation of the portion of Interstate Highway 35W in Johnson County as the Clifton Taylor Memorial Highway.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
