BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

Interested parties in Comal County assert the benefits of changing the membership of the county juvenile board. S.B. 2255 seeks to provide for these changes.

 

CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPACT

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly create a criminal offense, increase the punishment for an existing criminal offense or category of offenses, or change the eligibility of a person for community supervision, parole, or mandatory supervision.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

 

ANALYSIS

 

S.B. 2255 amends the Human Resources Code to include as a member of the Comal County Juvenile Board the judge of the 22nd District Court and to replace the member of the board who is a judge of a district court that has jurisdiction in Comal County, appointed biennially by the local administrative district judge, with the judge of the 274th District Court.

September 1, 2017.
