AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

In 2010, the United States Congress passed Public Law 111-148, known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. In the nearly seven years since the enactment of this law, the need to reform our nation's health care system has been a near-constant topic of discussion for lawmakers across the nation at both the state and federal level.

With a new administration in Washington, D.C., and efforts at further health care reform appearing to be imminent, S.C.R. 1 expresses the will of the Texas Legislature to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. This resolution will serve as encouragement to members of the Texas Congressional delegation as they consider how to move forward with legislation to provide health care reform.

RESOLVED

That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas call on the United States Congress to repeal Public Law 111-148, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
