A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|

|
relating to the date of the primary election runoff. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 41.007, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (b-1) to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
(b) The runoff primary election date is the second [fourth] |
|
|
Tuesday in April [May] following the general primary election. |
|
|
(b-1) The runoff primary election date for an election for |
|
|
federal office is the fourth Tuesday in May following the general |
|
|
primary election. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
