A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to parental leave for certain state employees. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 661.913(b), Government Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(b) The employee must first use all available and applicable |
|
|
paid vacation and sick leave while taking the leave authorized by |
|
|
this section. An employee whose leave under this section exceeds |
|
|
the amount of all available and applicable paid vacation and sick |
|
|
leave is entitled, after exhausting that leave, to not more than 20 |
|
|
days of additional paid leave. Any leave taken by the employee |
|
|
under this section after exhausting the additional paid leave [,
|
|
|
and the remainder of the leave] is unpaid. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
