A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to a study on early detection and early intervention in |
|
cases of children with autism spectrum disorders. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. (a) The Health and Human Services Commission |
|
shall conduct a study on: |
|
(1) early detection and early intervention in cases of |
|
children with autism spectrum disorders, including the accurate |
|
diagnosis of children with autism spectrum disorders at birth; |
|
(2) the educational and developmental benefits of |
|
early diagnosis and the prompt provision of therapy to children |
|
diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders; and |
|
(3) potential legislative solutions to promote early |
|
diagnosis and early intervention in cases of children with autism |
|
spectrum disorders. |
|
(b) Not later than December 1, 2018, the executive |
|
commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission shall |
|
provide a report on the results of the study to the governor, the |
|
lieutenant governor, and the legislature. |
|
(c) This section expires September 1, 2019. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
