A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the designation of a judicial district in Hidalgo |
|
County as the district court with preference for family law |
|
matters. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 24.194, Government Code, is amended by |
|
adding Subsections (e) and (f) to read as follows: |
|
(e) Subsection (f) applies to the 92nd, 93rd, 139th, 206th, |
|
275th, 332nd, 370th, 389th, 398th, 430th, and 449th judicial |
|
districts. |
|
(f) The judges of the district courts listed in Subsection |
|
(e) by agreement shall designate one of the listed district courts |
|
to give preference to family law matters. |
|
SECTION 2. Not later than October 2, 2017, the judges of the |
|
district courts listed in Section 24.194(e), Government Code, as |
|
added by this Act, shall by agreement designate a listed court as |
|
the court to give preference to family law matters. If the judges |
|
fail to designate a court to give preference to family law matters |
|
on or before October 2, 2017, the local administrative judge for |
|
Hidalgo County district courts shall designate a district court to |
|
give preference to family law matters not later than October 6, |
|
2017. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
