A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the designation of a judicial district in Hidalgo
  County as the district court with preference for family law
  matters.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 24.194, Government Code, is amended by
  adding Subsections (e) and (f) to read as follows:
         (e)  Subsection (f) applies to the 92nd, 93rd, 139th, 206th,
  275th, 332nd, 370th, 389th, 398th, 430th, and 449th judicial
  districts. 
         (f)  The judges of the district courts listed in Subsection
  (e) by agreement shall designate one of the listed district courts
  to give preference to family law matters.
         SECTION 2.  Not later than October 2, 2017, the judges of the
  district courts listed in Section 24.194(e), Government Code, as
  added by this Act, shall by agreement designate a listed court as
  the court to give preference to family law matters. If the judges
  fail to designate a court to give preference to family law matters
  on or before October 2, 2017, the local administrative judge for
  Hidalgo County district courts shall designate a district court to
  give preference to family law matters not later than October 6,
  2017.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
