A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a report by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice |
|
|
regarding inmate grievances. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 501.008, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (g) to read as follows: |
|
|
(g) The department shall submit a quarterly report |
|
|
regarding inmate grievances to the governor, the lieutenant |
|
|
governor, the state auditor, and each member of the legislature. |
|
|
The report must include the number and types of inmate grievances |
|
|
received by the department, aggregated and disaggregated by |
|
|
individual facility. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
