A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the publication of required notice by a political |
|
|
subdivision in media other than a newspaper. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 2051, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subchapter E to read as follows: |
|
|
SUBCHAPTER E. NOTICE BY POLITICAL SUBDIVISION BY PUBLICATION IN |
|
|
MEDIA OTHER THAN NEWSPAPER |
|
|
Sec. 2051.151. NOTICE BY PUBLICATION IN MEDIA OTHER THAN |
|
|
NEWSPAPER. (a) A political subdivision may satisfy a requirement |
|
|
in any other law to provide notice by publication in a newspaper by |
|
|
publishing the notice in any other form of media that the political |
|
|
subdivision determines will provide sufficient public notice, |
|
|
including on the political subdivision's Internet website or an |
|
|
Internet newspaper. |
|
|
(b) A notice published in media other than a newspaper must |
|
|
be published for the period required by law for the publication of |
|
|
the notice in a newspaper. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
