A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the location of certain temporary branch early voting |
|
|
polling places. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 85.062, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c-1) In a county with a population of 400,000 or more, the |
|
|
location of a movable polling place established under this section |
|
|
may be changed only: |
|
|
(1) once during the early voting period; and |
|
|
(2) after at least half of the early voting period has |
|
|
concluded. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
