A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the requirement for a report by a state agency on the |
|
|
request for a study from an institution of higher education. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 2052, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subchapter E to read as follows: |
|
|
SUBCHAPTER E. MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS |
|
|
Sec. 2052.351. DEFINITIONS. In this subchapter: |
|
|
(1) "Institution of higher education" has the meaning |
|
|
assigned by Section 61.003, Education Code. |
|
|
(2) "State agency" means a department, commission, |
|
|
board, office, council, authority, or other agency in the |
|
|
executive, judicial, or legislative branch of state government that |
|
|
is created by the constitution or a statute of this state. |
|
|
Sec. 2052.352. REPORT TO LEGISLATURE ON STUDY REQUEST. A |
|
|
state agency that requests the performance of a study from an |
|
|
institution of higher education shall, not later than the 30th day |
|
|
after the date of the request, submit to the legislature a report |
|
|
including: |
|
|
(1) a summary of the subject and purpose of the study; |
|
|
(2) the institution of higher education from which the |
|
|
study was requested; and |
|
|
(3) the anticipated cost of the study. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
