A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to a prohibition on lottery advertisement and promotion in |
|
certain low income counties. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 466.110, Government Code, is amended to |
|
read as follows: |
|
Sec. 466.110. PROHIBITED ADVERTISEMENTS. (a) The |
|
legislature intends that advertisements or promotions sponsored by |
|
the commission or the division for the lottery not be of a nature |
|
that unduly influences any person to purchase a lottery ticket or |
|
number. |
|
(b) The commission or a lottery operator may not advertise |
|
or promote the lottery in a county with a per capita income at or |
|
below 150 percent of the federal poverty level. |
|
(c) A sales agent operating in a county described by |
|
Subsection (b) may advertise or promote the lottery within the |
|
sales agent's place of business. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
