A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to creating a position of nonprofit agency services |
|
coordinator for the Department of Family and Protective Services. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code, |
|
is amended by adding Section 40.0327 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 40.0327. NONPROFIT AGENCY SERVICES COORDINATOR. (a) |
|
The department shall designate an employee of the department as the |
|
nonprofit agency services coordinator to serve as a liaison between |
|
the department and nonprofit agencies who provide assistance to |
|
families in crisis. |
|
(b) The nonprofit agency services coordinator shall assist |
|
nonprofit agencies in the provision of services and resources to |
|
families in crisis, including: |
|
(1) temporary out-of-home placement of a child with a |
|
caregiver; |
|
(2) mentoring programs, transportation, and |
|
babysitting services and providing meals and other support |
|
services; |
|
(3) furniture, clothing, and other household items; |
|
(4) parenting education training; and |
|
(5) mentoring programs for young adults aging out of |
|
foster care. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
