A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an offense report prepared in the investigation of a |
|
|
criminal case. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 2, Code of Criminal Procedure, is |
|
|
amended by adding Article 2.1396 to read as follows: |
|
|
Art. 2.1396. OFFENSE REPORT. An offense report prepared in |
|
|
the investigation of a criminal case must be signed by each peace |
|
|
officer who contributed information to the report. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to an offense report prepared on or after the effective date of this |
|
|
Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
