A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to requiring the Department of Family and Protective |
|
|
Services to notify certain organizations regarding the adoption of |
|
|
certain children. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 264, Family Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 264.208 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 264.208. NOTIFICATION OF ADOPTION TO CERTAIN ENTITIES. |
|
|
(a) In this section, "faith-based organization" has the meaning |
|
|
assigned by Section 264.113(a). |
|
|
(b) If the department has entered into a memorandum of |
|
|
understanding with a faith-based organization that authorizes the |
|
|
organization to share information about children in the |
|
|
department's conservatorship who are available for adoption, the |
|
|
department shall notify the faith-based organization when a child |
|
|
whose information has been shared with the organization is adopted. |
|
|
(c) The department shall provide the notice required by |
|
|
Subsection (b) not later than the end of the fifth business day |
|
|
after the date the adoption order is rendered. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
