A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

|
relating to water damage claims under a residential property |
|
|
insurance policy. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 542.253(a), Insurance Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) The commissioner shall [may] adopt rules that [identify
|
|
|
the types of water damage claims that] require all types of water |
|
|
damage claims to receive more prompt, efficient, and effective |
|
|
processing and handling than the processing and handling required |
|
|
under Subchapter B. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
