A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the elevation of high-speed rail tracks in certain |
|
|
counties. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 112, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 112.104 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 112.104. ELEVATED HIGH-SPEED RAIL TRACKS IN CERTAIN |
|
|
COUNTIES. (a) In this section, "high-speed rail" means intercity |
|
|
passenger rail reasonably expected to reach speeds of at least 120 |
|
|
miles per hour. |
|
|
(b) High-speed rail tracks located in a county with a |
|
|
population of more than one million or a county adjacent to a county |
|
|
with a population of more than one million must be elevated on |
|
|
pylons to 40 feet or more above the ground. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
