A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the establishment of a college of veterinary medicine |
|
|
at Texas A&M University--Kingsville. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 87, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 87.303 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 87.303. TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY--KINGSVILLE COLLEGE OF |
|
|
VETERINARY MEDICINE. (a) The board may establish and operate a |
|
|
college of veterinary medicine as a professional school of Texas |
|
|
A&M University--Kingsville. |
|
|
(b) The college of veterinary medicine shall specialize in |
|
|
training veterinarians in operating a large animal practice. |
|
|
(c) In administering the college of veterinary medicine, |
|
|
the board may prescribe courses leading to customary degrees |
|
|
offered at other leading American colleges of veterinary medicine |
|
|
and may award those degrees. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
