A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a limitation on the amount of a fee charged by a public |
|
|
institution of higher education for the issuance of an official |
|
|
transcript. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 54, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 54.5042 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 54.5042. LIMITATION ON AMOUNT OF TRANSCRIPT FEE. The |
|
|
governing board of an institution of higher education may not |
|
|
charge a fee of more than $10 for the issuance of an official |
|
|
transcript. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with requests for an |
|
|
official transcript submitted to a public institution of higher |
|
|
education on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
