A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to restoration of the position of public employees when |
|
relieved of duty from the Texas military forces or a similar unit. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 437.202(d), Government Code, is amended |
|
to read as follows: |
|
(d) An employee of this state or a municipality, a county, |
|
or another political subdivision of this state with at least five |
|
full-time employees [A state employee] who is a member of the Texas |
|
military forces, a reserve component of the armed forces, or a |
|
member of a state or federally authorized urban search and rescue |
|
team and who is ordered to duty by proper authority is entitled, |
|
when relieved from duty, to be restored to the position that the |
|
employee held when ordered to duty. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
