A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to Internet broadcasts of meetings held by the board of |
|
|
directors of a community development corporation. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 22, Business Organizations |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 22.236 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 22.236. INTERNET BROADCAST AND ARCHIVE OF BOARD |
|
|
MEETINGS OF CERTAIN CORPORATIONS. (a) This section applies only to |
|
|
a corporation whose purpose is to foster economic growth and |
|
|
revitalization, provide economic development services, or develop |
|
|
affordable housing in a defined neighborhood or for a targeted |
|
|
population. The corporation may be known as a "community |
|
|
development corporation." |
|
|
(b) In a manner that would comply with Section 551.128(c), |
|
|
Government Code, if the board of directors were a governmental body |
|
|
to which that section applies, a corporation shall broadcast over |
|
|
the Internet live video and audio of each meeting held by the board |
|
|
of directors of the corporation. Subsequently, the corporation |
|
|
shall make available through the corporation's Internet website |
|
|
archived video and audio for each meeting for which live video and |
|
|
audio was provided under this section. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to |
|
|
a meeting held on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
