A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to prohibiting the use of money in the Texas economic |
|
|
development fund or the Texas Enterprise Fund to finance a facility |
|
|
or establishment at which gambling is to be conducted. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 12.0272, Agriculture Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) Money in the Texas economic development fund may not be |
|
|
used to finance a facility or establishment at which gambling is to |
|
|
be conducted, including bingo and wagering on greyhound or horse |
|
|
racing. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 481.078, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (e-2) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e-2) The governor may not award a grant to an entity to |
|
|
finance a facility or establishment at which gambling is to be |
|
|
conducted, including bingo and wagering on greyhound or horse |
|
|
racing. |
|
|
SECTION 3. Section 481.078(e-2), Government Code, as added |
|
|
by this Act, applies only to a grant awarded on or after the |
|
|
effective date of this Act. A grant awarded before the effective |
|
|
date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the |
|
|
grant was awarded, and the former law is continued in effect for |
|
|
that purpose. |

SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
