A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the location of a polling place. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 43.031, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
|
|
(f) In a county with a population of less than 3.3 million, a |
|
|
location may not serve as a polling place if a candidate for an |
|
|
elective office, including an office of a political party, or a |
|
|
person related to the candidate within the third degree by |
|
|
consanguinity or the second degree by affinity, as determined under |
|
|
Chapter 573, Government Code, owns the location, or is an owner or |
|
|
principal of a business operating at the location. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
