A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to toll project accommodation of high-occupancy mass |
|
|
transit facilities and vehicles. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 372, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 372.002 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 372.002. ACCOMMODATION OF MASS TRANSIT FACILITIES AND |
|
|
VEHICLES. The governing body of a toll project entity may not adopt |
|
|
a plan for the construction of a toll project unless the plan |
|
|
includes measures for the toll project to accommodate |
|
|
high-occupancy vehicles of mass transit agencies, including buses |
|
|
and carpool and vanpool vehicles. Accommodations under this section |
|
|
must include: |
|
|
(1) land, capital funding, and operating costs for the |
|
|
construction and operation of park and ride facilities; and |
|
|
(2) the free use of the project by mass transit |
|
|
high-occupancy vehicles. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to a toll project for which an initial plan is adopted on or after |
|
|
September 1, 2017. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
