A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an audit of faculty composition by the Texas Higher |
|
|
Education Coordinating Board. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 61, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 61.09010 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 61.09010. AUDIT OF FACULTY COMPOSITION. (a) The board |
|
|
shall conduct an annual audit of information and data related to the |
|
|
age, gender, and race or ethnic composition of the faculty of |
|
|
institutions of higher education. |
|
|
(b) The board may require an institution of higher education |
|
|
to report to the board the data and information the board considers |
|
|
necessary to conduct a thorough audit under Subsection (a), |
|
|
including data related to the age, gender, and race or ethnicity of |
|
|
each faculty member of the institution. |
|
|
(c) The board shall analyze the data and other information |
|
|
audited under Subsection (a) to evaluate and determine the |
|
|
appropriate hiring needs for future faculty at institutions of |
|
|
higher education. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
