        Day. |

			 | 
               BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
               SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is  | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
        amended by adding Section 662.066 to read as follows: | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
               Sec. 662.066.  FALLEN LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER DAY.  (a)  July  | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
        7 is Fallen Law Enforcement Officer Day in recognition of the  | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
        ultimate sacrifice made by Texas law enforcement officers killed in  | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
        the line of duty. | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
               (b)  Fallen Law Enforcement Officer Day shall be regularly  | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
        observed by appropriate ceremonies. | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
               SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives  | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
        a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as  | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
        provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this  | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
        Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this  | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
        Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | 
      
      
        | 
           
			 | 
         |
