A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the issuance of identification documentation for foster |
|
care youth. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 264, Family Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 264.1211 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 264.1211. RECORDS AND DOCUMENTS FOR CHILDREN AGING OUT |
|
OF FOSTER CARE. The department in cooperation with volunteer |
|
advocates from a charitable organization described by Subchapter C, |
|
Chapter 107, and the Department of Public Safety shall develop |
|
procedures to ensure that a foster child obtains a driver's license |
|
or personal identification card before the child leaves the |
|
conservatorship of the department. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
