A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to providing information on the National Marrow Donor |
|
|
Program in driver's license offices and on driver's license and |
|
|
personal identification certificate applications. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 521, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 521.012 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 521.012. INFORMATION ON NATIONAL MARROW DONOR PROGRAM. |
|
|
(a) The department shall make available, in a publicly accessible |
|
|
area of a driver's license office, informational materials that |
|
|
provide information on the National Marrow Donor Program, including |
|
|
basic bone marrow donation information in English and Spanish and a |
|
|
contact phone number and e-mail address. |
|
|
(b) The department shall include space on each application |
|
|
for a new or renewal driver's license or personal identification |
|
|
certificate that informs the applicant of the existence of the |
|
|
National Marrow Donor Program, the contact information for the |
|
|
program, and a description of the program's purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
