A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the testing of breeder deer for chronic wasting |
|
|
disease. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter L, Chapter 43, Parks and Wildlife |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 43.3595 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 43.3595. TESTING BREEDER DEER FOR CHRONIC WASTING |
|
|
DISEASE. The department shall pay the costs associated with |
|
|
testing breeder deer for chronic wasting disease as that testing is |
|
|
required by a herd certification program administered by the |
|
|
federal Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a |
|
|
breeder deer tested on or after the effective date of this Act. A |
|
|
breeder deer tested before the effective date of this Act is |
|
|
governed by the law in effect at the time the deer was tested and |
|
|
that law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
