A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the posting of notice required to be published in a |
|
|
newspaper on the Internet website of certain municipalities. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 2051, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 2051.054 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 2051.054. NOTICE BY PUBLICATION ON INTERNET FOR |
|
|
CERTAIN MUNICIPALITIES WITH NO NEWSPAPER. (a) This section |
|
|
applies only to a municipality: |
|
|
(1) that has a population of 25,000 or less; and |
|
|
(2) in which no newspaper is published. |
|
|
(b) A municipality may satisfy a requirement in any other |
|
|
law to provide notice by publication in a newspaper by posting the |
|
|
notice on its Internet website beginning on the earliest date |
|
|
provided for in the requirement and continuing until the day after |
|
|
the date the action for which notice was required occurs. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
