A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to continuing education requirements for a laser hair |
|
removal certificate or license. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter M, Chapter 401, Health and Safety |
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 401.5095 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 401.5095. CONTINUING EDUCATION. (a) The commission |
|
by rule shall: |
|
(1) establish a minimum number of hours of continuing |
|
education required for certificate or license renewal under this |
|
subchapter; and |
|
(2) recognize, prepare, or administer a continuing |
|
education program for a person certified or licensed under this |
|
subchapter. |
|
(b) The department may develop and adopt: |
|
(1) a process to evaluate or approve a continuing |
|
education provider or program; and |
|
(2) a process to assess a certificate holder's or |
|
license holder's participation in a continuing education program. |
|
SECTION 2. Not later than August 31, 2017, or as soon as |
|
practicable after the effective date of this Act if more time is |
|
required, the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation shall |
|
ensure rules are adopted as required by Section 401.5095, Health |
|
and Safety Code, as added by this Act. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
