A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to information provided by a voter to an election officer. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Election Code, is amended by adding |
|
|
Section 1.021 to read as follows: |
|
|
SECTION 1.021 |
|
|
INFORMATION PROVIDED BY VOTER. (a) Any form |
|
|
completed by a voter and provided to an election officer shall |
|
|
include the voter's name, address, date of birth, voter unique |
|
|
identifier (VUID), if available, and the number from either a |
|
|
driver's license, election identification certificate, or personal |
|
|
identification card issued to the person by the Department of |
|
|
Public Safety or last four digits of their social security number. |
|
|
(b) A person desiring to register to vote who does not |
|
|
possess the information required by Section 13.002(c)(8)(A) or (B) |
|
|
may provide a statement under Section 13.002(c)(8)(C). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2018. |
