A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a reduction of the amount required to be paid by a |
|
|
school district to achieve the equalized wealth level under the |
|
|
public school finance system. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 41, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 41.0933 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 41.0933. REDUCTION FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS |
|
|
COSTS. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, a |
|
|
school district that executes an agreement to purchase all |
|
|
attendance credits necessary to reduce the district's wealth per |
|
|
student to the equalized wealth level may reduce the total amount |
|
|
required to be paid for attendance credits under Section 41.093 by |
|
|
25 percent. |
|
|
(b) A reduction under Subsection (a) shall be made after |
|
|
making any reduction to which the district is entitled under |
|
|
Section 41.0931, 41.097, or 41.098 or another provision of this |
|
|
chapter. |
|
|
(c) The district shall use amounts available to the district |
|
|
as a result of this section to pay district maintenance and |
|
|
operations costs. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
