A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to required notice to certain students at public |
|
|
lower-division institutions of higher education regarding skills |
|
|
development job training or incentive programs. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 303.003, Labor Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (h-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(h-1) Each lower-division institution of higher education |
|
|
shall require the institution's admissions or enrollment staff to |
|
|
provide to any student who seeks to enroll in a course or program |
|
|
offered by the institution that provides workforce training or that |
|
|
leads to an industry-recognized license, credential, or |
|
|
certificate notice regarding any relevant job training or incentive |
|
|
programs under Subsection (b), (b-1), or (b-2) in which the |
|
|
institution participates or through which the institution receives |
|
|
funds. The commission may adopt rules prescribing the form and |
|
|
manner of the notice required by this subsection. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 303.003(h-1), Labor Code, as added by |
|
|
this Act, applies beginning with the 2017 fall semester. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
